Linked Events
It is often useful to link events (appointments or to do's) that
are related to each other. If you change the date of the master
event, the dates of the dependent events change in your calendar
accordingly. For example, you can set up a dependent to do (prepare
mortgage) to be scheduled 31 days before a master event (closing).
If the closing date subsequently changes, the "prepare mortgage
reminder" will move appropriately in your calendar, without your
intervention.
You can link any number of dependent events to a single master
event. Or you can create a chain of events, where A is dependent
on B which is dependent on C, etc. The possibilities are endless.
The benefits are as well - you can be sure you schedule all related
events correctly and everything will be moved for you if dates start
to change.
You can also use this as a tool to track calendar events which
were not completed on time. For example, you can have a new event
created when something has not been completed by its deadline, or
even if it has been on your to do list for longer than a specified
time. It's another great tool for managing delegated tasks.
