Patch 1 for Build 9.0.0.1002 (May 21, 2009)
Amicus Attorney 2009 Small Firm Edition
This Update includes Dailies, Time Sheets and Outlook Sync fixes.
Issue 20252: If Outlook Link synchronization is set to occur "On command", and another user has added or edited an Event in an Outlook shared calendar, that change might not exchange to Amicus.
Issue 20253: If Outlook Link synchronization is set to occur "On command", synchronizing a new Contact or Task created in Outlook causes a duplicate in Outlook.
Issue 20290: If you have more than 10 unposted Time Entries on any one day, Amicus might terminate unexpectedly when you display that day in the Time Sheets module.
Issue 20291: After upgrading to Version 2009 from a Version in which you had more than 17 Dailies Page items defined (including "Today's Practice Reminders", "Today's Overview", and separators), Amicus might terminate unexpectedly when you open the Dailies module. (This may be the result of new Dashboards auto-assigned to you during the upgrade.) A maximum of 20 items can be listed in Dailies. After the Patch has been applied, go to File > Preferences > Dailies > Dailies Pages and reduce your list to 20 items.

Updating Team Member Workstations
-
After Amicus Administrator has been updated, each Team Member's workstation will be automatically updated when they log in.
-
Important Note: Although Team Members might have an Amicus Attorney icon on their Desktop, they should instead go to the Start menu to launch Amicus Attorney for the update. Using the Start menu item ensures that AASFECHK.exe is run, which automatically checks for updated files.
Workstation Troubleshooting: If an "Amicus Attorney-Outlook link could not be initialized" error occurs during your first Outlook sync, possibly upon logging in at the workstation, the .DLLs might have failed to register. Resolve this issue by updating the workstation as follows:
-
Exit Amicus Attorney and, if used, Amicus Accounting.
-
Ensure that Amicus Administrator is running at the Server.
-
Log onto the computer as a user with Windows "Administrators" or "Power Users" Group rights and shut down all running programs, including the Palm HotSync Manager if applicable.
-
In Windows Explorer, go to the mapped network drive and open the \Amicus\Amicus Attorney 2009 Small Firm Team\INSTALL folder.
-
Double-click on SETUP.EXE. Or, if running under Windows Vista, right-click on SETUP.EXE and choose "Run as administrator".
-
Select the "Update Amicus Attorney" option and then complete the dialogs as instructed.
-
When the update is complete, click Finish. When prompted to start Amicus Attorney, click Yes.
Updating Secondary Offices
-
At each computer on which Secondary Office is installed, exit Amicus Attorney.
-
Open Windows Explorer and browse to the location where you stored the Patch files AADailies.dll and AADB32.dll.
-
Copy those 2 files to the following folder, replacing the prior versions: \Amicus\Amicus Attorney 2009 Small Firm
Determining whether the Patch has been applied
-
Go Check by viewing the Properties of AAOutlookSynch.dll - its File version is updated to 9.0.0.1112.
AFTER APPLYING THE PATCH
Although the patch will prevent Outlook Sync from creating new duplicate items in Outlook or Amicus, it does not remove any that currently exist. If you have existing duplicates, we recommend that you:
-
Manually remove duplicates from both Amicus and Outlook.
-
Or, remove duplicates from the application that has the fewest duplicates and clear out all items from the other application. Then re-initialize the Outlook Link.
TIP: If configured for Real-time Sync, disable Outlook Synchronization while removing duplicates.
