Amicus Accounting 2010

This utility changes the tax field labels in screens, reports, and billing templates from "GST" to "HST". This is for British Columbia and Ontario firms ONLY.

AUDIENCE

Recommended only for firms in Ontario & British Columbia who have switched from GST to HST taxation. Suitable for those who are currently running:

  • 2010.0.0

To check your Build Number in Amicus Accounting, go to Help > About Amicus Accounting.

TIPS ON DOWNLOADING & UPDATING

  • Choose a temporary location on your hard drive. Do not download directly into your existing Amicus Accounting folder.
  • Do not change the name of the download file.
  • Before you click on the download link, make sure that it is appropriate for your version of Amicus Accounting.
  • If you experience any errors during the extraction process, do not attempt to install. The file may have become corrupted during download. Delete the downloaded file from your machine and download the update again.
  • The instructions assume that your Amicus Accounting has been installed to its default folders. If you have installed the program to a different location, then use that location in the following instructions.

INSTALLING THE PATCH

Updating Amicus Accounting

  1. Click the link below and download the file GST-HST.zip.
  2. Extract its contents to a temporary location. The extracted file is GST-HST.exe.
  3. Backup the Amicus Accounting database.
  4. Ensure that all users, including yourself, are out of Amicus Accounting.
  5. If Amicus Accounting is integrated with Amicus Attorney, ensure that all Amicus Attorney users are logged out.
  6. Double-click GST-HST.exe to run it.
  7. Log in to Amicus Accounting.
    • Go to Lists > Expense Codes and, for each expense code, set the PST flag to N.
    • Go to the Matter Details view of Client Matter Details for each Open client matter and set the PST flag to N.
    • Go to Accounts Payable > Vendor Maintenance and, for each vendor, set PST Taxable to N.
    • Go to Set Up > Firm Settings > Tax Settings, set the HST Rate to 13 or 12 as appropriate, set the PST Rate to zero, and then clear the PST Charged By Firm checkbox.

NOTE: The Amicus Workstations do not need to be updated.
