Amicus Attorney V - Client/Server Edition

DOWNLOADING & UPDATING

IMPORTANT:
1. You must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later installed on your workstation and server before installing Amicus Attorney 5.1.1.
2. If your operating system is Windows NT, you must have Windows NT version 4 with service pack 6 or higher before installing Amicus Assembly 1.1.

Important Download Tips:

  • Choose a temporary location on your hard drive. Do not download directly into your existing Amicus Attorney folder.
  • Do not change the name of the download file.
  • Before you click on the download link, make sure that it is appropriate to your version and edition of Amicus Attorney.
  • If you experience any errors during the extraction process, do not attempt to install. The file may have become corrupted during download. Delete the downloaded file from your machine and download the update again.
  • For Netscape users, your browser will prompt you with a "Save As" dialog. Click OK to begin the download.
  • For Internet Explorer users, select a location on your hard drive to store the file. Click OK to begin the download.

Updating Amicus Administrator:

  1. Ensure that all Team Members have exited from their Amicus Attorney Offices.
  2. Ensure that ALL Team Members have an on-line and logged-out status in Amicus Administrator.
  3. Exit from Amicus Administrator.
  4. a) If you are updating the Client/Server Edition–NLM version, ensure that you unload the CTSRVER from your Novell Server before proceeding with the update.
    b) If Amicus Administrator and the Amicus Server have been installed in a Windows environment as a "Split" install, ensure that the Amicus Server is NOT running before proceeding with the update.
    c) If you run the Amicus Server as a Service rather than as a program, ensure that it is NOT running.
  5. From the computer on which Amicus Administrator is installed, open Windows Explorer.
  6. Browse for the location where you stored the Amicus Attorney version 5.1.1 update file (AW5110PR3.EXE)
  7. Double-click on the file, AW511PR3.EXE, and then click "Finish".
  8. This will extract the necessary files into a temporary folder.
  9. Click OK in the dialog that reads "Extraction complete." The Setup program will automatically begin.
  10. Select the option to update Amicus Attorney.
  11. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Note: If you are updating from Amicus Attorney version 5.0.2 or earlier, then once the update is complete a Word document will appear containing instructions and macros that enable you to update your Master Document Templates.

Updating Team Member Workstations:

After Amicus Administrator has been updated, each Team Member workstation will automatically detect the update upon launching Amicus Attorney. Select the option to update Amicus Attorney and follow the onscreen instructions.

Important Note: If Team Members already have a shortcut on their desktop for Amicus Attorney, they MUST still go to the Start menu to launch Amicus Attorney for the update to take place. This is done to ensure that the AA50CHK.EXE is run, which will automatically check for updated files.

  • The User and Getting Started Guides were last updated for Amicus Attorney Version 5.1. and they are stored as PDFs.
  • The User and Getting Started Guides will be installed in the folder C:\Manuals by default. If you wish each Team Member to be prompted to install these Guides when they update their Office, then copy the Manuals folder to ...\Team50\Install\Team
