Amicus Attorney 7
PCLaw Link Fix

Version 7.1 Fix for those integrating with PCLaw 8.2 or higher (May 9 2007)

Suitable for those who are currently running Amicus Attorney:

| 7.1.0.8 | Standard or Premium Edition

This Fix need only be applied if you wish to initialize or reinitialize the Link with PCLaw Version PCLaw 8.2 or higher.

CAUTION: Do not apply this download to any installation other than Build 7.1.0.8. (To view your Build number, choose About Amicus Attorney from the Amicus Help menu.)


AFTER INSTALLING THE FIX:

This Fix will change Step 1 of the Link Configuration wizard (launched from Firm Settings in Amicus Attorney) if you are running PCLaw 7 or higher:

  1. At the Server, start PCLaw and log in to the Set of Books that you wish to link with.
  2. Choose Options > Connection Settings and enable the "Use this Set of Books when connecting with other programs" option. Also enter a PCLaw username and password.
  3. Ensure that the product key file (plaalink.key) obtained from PCLaw Technical Support has been placed in the appropriate Data folder.
  4. Click Test Connection to ensure that the connection works.
  5. Then click Finish. The Welcome dialog appears.

DOWNLOADING & UPDATING

Important Download Tips:

  • Choose a temporary location on your hard drive. Do not download directly into your existing Amicus Attorney folder.
  • Do not change the name of the download file.
  • Before you click on the download link, make sure that it is appropriate to your version and edition of Amicus Attorney.
  • If you experience any errors during the extraction process, do not attempt to install. The file may have become corrupted during download. Delete the downloaded file from your machine and download it again.
  • The instructions assume that your Amicus Attorney has been installed to its default folders. If you have installed the program to a different location, then use that location in the following instructions.

INSTALLING THE FIX:

Updating the Amicus Server:

  1. Click the link below and download the file AA71-PCLawPatch.exe.
  2. Copy the file to a temporary location on the Amicus Application Server.
  3. Ensure that Microsoft Office applications are not running on the Server.
  4. Ensure that all Firm Members have exited from both Amicus Attorney and PCLaw.
  5. Double-click the file to execute the patch.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions. When finished, click OK. The Amicus Application Server will be restarted.
