DOWNLOADING TIPS:

  • Choose a temporary location on your hard drive. Do not download directly into your existing Amicus Attorney folder.
  • Do not change the name of the download file.
  • Before you click on the download link, make sure that it is appropriate for your version of Amicus Attorney.
  • If you experience any errors during the extraction process, do not attempt to install. The file may have become corrupted during download. Delete the downloaded file from your machine and download the update again.
  • The instructions assume that your Amicus Attorney has been installed to its default folders. If you have installed the program to a different location, then use that location in the following instructions.

INSTALLING THE UPDATE:

Updating Amicus Administrator:

  1. Click the link below and download the file SFE10AD107.zip.
  2. Extract its contents to a temporary location. The 11 extracted files are:
    AASFECHK.ini
    OutlookSynchronization.pdf
    AADB32.dll
    AAFiles.dll
    AAOffice.dll
    AAOutlook.dll
    AAOutlookSynch.dll
    AAShared.dll
    AmicusAtt10.exe
    Osmax.ocx
    Secman.dll
  3. Ensure that every Team Member who has a Secondary Office has transferred all desired data to Primary Office.
  4. Ensure that every Team Member who is Offline has gone online (transferring their local data to firm database).
  5. Ensure that all Team Members have exited from their Amicus Attorney Offices.
  6. If integrating with Amicus Accounting or any third-party products that link with Amicus, ensure that all Team Members have exited from those applications.
  7. In Amicus Administrator, ensure that all Team Members have an on-line and logged-out status.
  8. Exit from Amicus Administrator.
  9. Copy AASFECHK.ini to the following folder, replacing the prior version:
\Amicus\AMICUS ATTORNEY 2010 SMALL FIRM TEAM.
  10. Copy OutlookSynchronization.pdf to the following folder, replacing the prior version:
    \Amicus\AMICUS ATTORNEY 2010 SMALL FIRM TEAM\AMICUS\HELP\OUTLOOK.
  11. Copy all 9 remaining extracted files to the following folder, replacing the prior versions:
    \Amicus\AMICUS ATTORNEY 2010 SMALL FIRM TEAM\AMICUS.
  12. Copy AAOutlook.dll and AAOutlookSynch.dll to the following folder, replacing the prior version:
    \Amicus\AMICUS ATTORNEY 2010 SMALL FIRM TEAM\INSTALL\TEAM\BASECODE.
  13. Start Amicus Administrator.

Updating Team Member Workstations:

  1. IMPORTANT: At each workstation running with UAC enabled (under Windows 7 or Vista), open Windows Explorer, go to C:\WINDOWS, and click Compatibility Files on the toolbar. The \VirtualStore\Windows folder appears. Move AmicusAtt10.ini from that folder to the C:\WINDOWS folder, replacing the version there.
  2. After Amicus Team has been updated, each Team Member's workstation will prompt them to Update Amicus Attorney when they log in. Click Next and follow the onscreen instructions.
IMPORTANT: Although Team Members might have an Amicus Attorney icon on their Desktop, they should instead go to the Start menu to launch Amicus Attorney for the update. Using the Start menu item ensures that AASFECHK.exe is run, which automatically checks for updated files.
  3. From the Office module, choose OFFICE > Re-synchronize with Outlook. The re-synchronization process may take a considerable amount of time, depending on the number of records that will need to be synchronized.
IMPORTANT: We recommend that Team Members re-synchronize at different times so that not all are processing at the same time, especially if your firm uses Microsoft Exchange. Also consider performing re-synchronization during off-business hours.

Updating Secondary Offices:

  1. Extract the contents of SFE10AD107.zip to a temporary location on each computer on which Secondary Office is installed.
  2. At each of those computers, exit Amicus Attorney.
  3. Copy OutlookSynchronization.pdf to the following folder, replacing the prior version:
    \Amicus\AMICUS ATTORNEY 2010 SMALL FIRM\HELP\OUTLOOK.
  4. Copy the following 9 files:
    AADB32.dll
    AAFiles.dll
    AAOffice.dll
    AAOutlook.dll
    AAOutlookSynch.dll
    AAShared.dll
    AmicusAtt10.exe
    Osmax.ocx
    Secman.dll

to the following folder, replacing the prior versions:
    \Amicus\AMICUS ATTORNEY 2010 SMALL FIRM

(AASFECHK.ini is not required on the Secondary Office.)

  • In Amicus Attorney, go to Help > About Amicus Attorney. Your build number is updated to 10.0.1.1072. (Note that the Build number shown in the About box of Amicus Administrator is not updated.)
