Converting Notes

Notes provide a quick method for jotting down thoughts, things to do later, messages for colleagues, conversations with clients, and so forth. Information stored in a note might actually be needed in a different kind of record. To facilitate this natural workflow and avoid any need for retyping, you can convert a note into a phone call, phone message, to do, appointment, or time entry.

To convert a note into another record type:

  1. Double-click a note in a notes list.
    • The list may be either in the notes module or in a notes brad page of a file detail.
  2. The note details dialog appears. If you wish, edit the text of the note and/or select a file with which you want the new record to be associated.
  3. Select what type of record you would like to convert the note to by picking it in the drop-down list to the right of the Convert button.
  4. Click Convert
  5. The note details dialog closes, the note is deleted and the appropriate details dialog for the new record type appears with much of the information already filled in, including the note text and any file association.
  6. Fill in any additional details in the new record dialog, and then click OK.
