The last few months have been extremely busy for us, as
we've been shipping Amicus Attorney 7 since April. (And
we've also been putting the final touches on our exciting
new accounting application, so stay tuned for news on that
product!)
We're pleased to let you know that, so far, several Amicus
7 reviews and "customer success stories" have
been posted to our website: www.amicusattorney.com/news/news_reviews.html
They come from Law Office Computing, The Lawyer's PC newsletter
and TechnoLawyer NewsWire. All of the reviews explain why
Amicus 7 is bound to be our most popular version to date.
Print the PDF files, take them away to read while you enjoy
your summer vacation!

Merging Duplicate Contacts in Amicus Attorney 7
A new feature in Amicus Attorney 7 is the ability to merge
duplicate contacts right inside the People (Contacts) module.
In order to merge duplicate contacts in Amicus Attorney
V, you had to get everyone out of the database and perform
this function at the Amicus Administrator. With Amicus Attorney
7, firm members can do this right from their workstation.
To start utilizing this new feature, follow these steps:
- Go into the People module located on the left side
of the Amicus Attorney screen.
- Find 2 contacts that you would like to merge.
- Select both contacts by highlighting the first contact,
holding down the Ctrl key, and then highlighting the second
contact.
- Right click and select Merge Contacts and the following
window will appear:
- Choose from one of the four options to leave as separate
contacts, merge the data, keep the first, or keep the
second. You may also edit the values in either contact
card as well.
(Note: There is also a "Find Duplicate Contacts"
option listed in the Actions drop-down menu. This will
allow you to search across Contacts to look for potential
duplicates and to take action.)

Question:
How many Amicus Attorney 7 users are supported under the
MSDE installation option?
Answer:
Amicus Attorney 7 uses the robust Microsoft SQL Server Database.
This provides numerous improvements to stability and scalability.
Amicus Attorney 7 Standard Edition can run on the free
version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE).
This version of Amicus Attorney supports up to 15 users
and a maximum database size of 2 GB.
Amicus Attorney 7 Premium Edition can run on both the full
version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and MSDE. Again, MSDE
can support up to 15 users, with a maximum database size
of 2 GB. There is no cap on the total number of users supported
with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as long as the firm has a
sufficient number of licenses.
Premium Edition installations with more that 15 users require
the full install of Microsoft SQL Server 2000. Firms must
have a sufficient number of Microsoft client access licenses
(CALs) to cover the maximum number of users and/or devices
that may access or use Amicus Attorney.
Premium Edition users can purchase Microsoft SQL Server
2000 Workgroup Edition Runtime-Restricted Use Licenses direct
from Gavel & Gown Software for only $100 per user.
