A list of fixed issues follows the “Update Instructions” section below.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

UPDATING THE AMICUS SERVER

1.       Ensure that there is sufficient free disk space available on the Amicus Application Server. We recommend 1 GB.

2.       We recommend that you back up your Amicus databases.

3.       Download the AA7Update1.EXE updater file from the InstallShield Update Service website (33 MB) and save it on your Amicus Server. (If you cannot download it, please contact the Gavel & Gown Customer Account Services Team to request a CD.)

4.       Ensure that you are logged on at the Server as a user with Windows “Administrator” rights. You must be physically at the Server—the update cannot be performed via a remote connection.

5.       Ensure that all users (including yourself) have logged out of Amicus.

6.       From the Windows Add/Remove Programs function, remove the Amicus Install Manager if present.

7.       Shut down all running programs.

8.       Double-click the AA7Update1.EXE file to start the update, and follow the onscreen instructions. Please wait for the update process to complete.

UPDATING WORKSTATIONS (including the Workstation on the Amicus Server)

1.       Shut down all running programs.

2.       Log in to Amicus Attorney. A message will appear, asking you whether to apply the update now. Click OK. Please wait for the update process to complete.

·         If you are prompted to exit the Palm HotSync Manager, do so and then click Retry.

·         If Offline components are installed, they will be updated after the Workstation is updated.

NOTE: If you cannot log in to Amicus at a Workstation after updating it, we recommend that you restart the computer and reapply the Update manually: double-click UPDATE.EXE in the \\(Amicus Server Name)\Install\Workstation shared folder located on your Amicus Application Server.

IMPORTANT: If Offline components are LATER installed at any Workstation, the Update will not be applied automatically to those components and the user will be unable to go Offline. To apply the Update manually, double-click UPDATE.EXE  in the \\[Amicus Server Name]\Install\Offline shared folder located on your Amicus Application Server. This issue will be fixed in a future Service Pack.

IMPORTANT: If your firm plans to upgrade from Amicus X to Version 7 after applying this Update, please contact Gavel & Gown Technical Support for a required program file.
