Intermediate Software Developer

Gavel & Gown Software Inc. is a private Canadian company which designs, develops and markets Amicus Attorney, the world's leading practice management software for lawyers, used by more than 200,000 clients in 50 countries.

We're offering a fantastic opportunity to join a global leader headquartered right here in downtown Toronto, in the heart of the financial district. Report to the Development Manager, as part of the Product Development team that designs, develops, tests and releases our flagship products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use leading edge technologies to produce n-tier applications.
  • Analyze product specifications and create and document technical designs.
  • Develop high quality code that meets our product specifications and technical standards.
  • Conduct unit testing and assist Quality Assurance staff to successfully complete QA and integration testing.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to team members.
  • Meet critical project deadlines ' doing whatever it takes.

Technical Qualifications

  • Development: C#, and .NET are required; ASP, JavaScript, HTML, DHTML, Visual Basic, Java are assets.
  • Technologies: .NET Remoting and WebServices are required; MTS / COM+, XML, J2EE are assets.
  • Database development: MS-SQL, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, DTS are required; Oracle is an asset.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of software development experience.
  • Proven prior work experience developing large and complex applications.
  • Relational database-driven and client/server application development experience.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with the software development life cycle.
  • Good understanding of object-oriented design concepts.

Software Developer

  • Review application requirements and designs to provide feedback and development estimates.
  • Deliver high quality code in accordance with the design.
  • Create the plans and conduct the necessary testing and code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot existing processes to solve performance and logic bugs.

Technical Qualifications

  • 4 or more years of software development experience
  • Solid C++ development experience on Microsoft platform using ATL, MFC, and COM+
  • Crystal Report, .NET platform applications would be a definite asset.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of software development experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Autonomy to work effectively with minimal supervision and capable to meet deadlines / work under pressure in a team environment
  • University Degree (preferred)
  • Experience with the legal industry would be beneficial.

Customer Account Sales Team - Inside Sales

We're offering a fantastic opportunity to join a global leader headquartered in the heart of downtown Toronto, close to the Eaton Center and the subway. Responsibilities:

Selling into new and existing accounts in Canada and the United States.

  • Work as part of a team to handle incoming sales calls from customers
  • Answer sales and customer service related questions
  • Close sales and take orders for additional products and services
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge in order to answer product related questions and evaluate customer inquiries.
  • Provide a basic level of pre-sales technical support if/when needed.
  • Fully qualify all sales opportunities when interacting with customers.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of internal operations in order to direct customer inquiries accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • University or College degree (recent graduates welcomed)
  • 1-2 years experience in a sales role is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong grasp of the English Language
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of computer software and networking is an advantage
  • Positive attitude is required

Customer Service Technical Support Representative

Great opportunities exist to join a global leader headquartered in downtown Toronto. These entry levels positions provide an opportunity to start learning and supporting our applications with potential advancement opportunities into software development or quality assurance. Customer Service Representatives are required to handle both inbound and outbound calls.

Successful candidates must have:

  • Post secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or comparable degree.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows XP, Windows Server 2000 or higher, MS-SQL
  • Working towards or having received Microsoft Certificates for MCSA, MCDBA or MCSE would be of benefit.
  • Some development experience with : ASP, Javascript, HTML, DHTML, Visual Basic/ COM
  • Some database development experience would be an asset e.g. T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views,Triggers,DTS
  • Understanding of critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to separate symptoms from the root cause
  • Strong command of English with good communication skills
  • Ability to maintain control of customer issues in conversation
  • Patience and empathy in assisting customers
  • Must be willing to work shifts, business hours ,Mon.-Fri. 8:30am -8:00pm
